  • Alex Robles – Christ the King Class of 2005

I am a member of the CK Class of 2005 and Brother Rice High School Class of 2009. I have always wanted to be a Marine and a Chicago Police Officer.  In October 2008, I began my military journey by walking into the recruiters’ office to pursue my dream.  After a few visits, I finally persuaded my mother to sign the parental waiver and joined the Marines in August 2009 at age 17.  After graduating from Boot Camp, Marine Combat Training and Marine Corps Electronics School, I was assigned to the 8th Communication Battalion in Camp Lejeune, NC.  I had the great opportunity to deploy to Afghanistan July 2011-January 2012 working with Camp Leatherneck base communications and guarding base entry points and the generals’ compound. After a successful deployment, I spent the rest of my military career in Camp Lejeune. I returned home July 2014 after 5 successful and life changing years.  I am currently pursuing my goal to become a Chicago Police Officer.  The Marine Corps has taught me to never give up no matter the odds.  Failure is not in my vocabulary and it should not be in yours. Never settle for average, forge your own path and never sacrifice your honor for anyone. Semper Fidelis
